Data vs. NCLB in Chicago

Today's Chicago Tribune has an article that highlights the importance of pending changes to the Notorious No Child Left Behind legislation.  Testing is again shown to be as reliable as any other one-shot form of "objective" evaluation.  At least Illinois has fended off the impetus toward single-measure high stakes testing such as the MCAS in Massachusetts.  In Chicago, the district seems a little schizophrenic: welcoming data provided by the Consortium on Chicago School Research which identifies the predictive factors for success, while pressuring school leaders to produce the test scores which look good for AYP.
